As a child, one of my favorite activities was hula hooping. Many days, I would spend hours just having fun, enjoying my hula hoop. It was a bright purple color. I was able to rock the hula hoop on my foot, arm, and even my neck, in addition to my waist!! I've told my husband before, of my love to hula hoop. I think he underestimated me...... One day, we were at the local sporting goods store. He pointed out the bin of hula hoops. Then he asked, "So you think you still got it?" I accepted his challenge. Grabbed a hula hoop, slipped it over my head. It was just like riding a bike. The rhythm came right back to me. The funny part, I forgot to mention is ~ I was 6 months pregnant with a big old belly, hula hooping, in the middle of the store. We both were laughing so much, ok so him a lot more than me!!!
Can you imagine my delight, when I found out about the Wham-O Hula Hoop Ring Toss? Wham-O is a toy icon. They are the company behind so many great toys we have all come to know and love. The hula hoop, the slip n slide, the frisbee, and the hacky sack, just to mention a few!
My kids were so excited to play the Hula Hoop Ring Toss. It took 2 seconds to put it together, after taking it out of the box. The Ring Toss Target Stand, comes in two pieces that snap together. Then you insert the 5 Hula Hoop polls. Easy-peasy!!! Time for some fun! The Hula Hoop Ring Toss is intended for children 5 years of age and older. My kids are 9,8,5, and 4. We went out into the front yard to play. I established a starting line for the kids to throw from. The concept of the game is very easy. You stand at the line. Toss the Hula Hoop rings to the target stand. You receive 2 points for landing a hula hoop on an outside poll. Receive 5 points for landing a hula hoop on the center poll. First person or team to reach 21 points wins!
My kids, immediately out of the gate were very good at the game. The two oldest girls each scored 5 points for landing a hula hoop on the center poll. I love the hand - eye coordination exercise from playing the game. You can also, adjust the degree of difficulty of the game. Depending on how far the target stand is from the throwing line. The kids played for quite a while. The competition was fierce. I loved to here the uh,uh, ohhh sounds as they watched to see if it landed on the poll. This is a great game! It was just as fun for me as it was for my kids. This would also be a great game, to get the grandparents involved in. I can't wait to have a family picnic. This game will be so fun to get everyone together to play!
